Director/ Writer - Cameron Murry

Born in KwaZulu-Natal, lived there for 6 years, moved to Joburg for 6 years and have lived in the western cape for the rest.

Writing was what truly interested me when coming to AFDA. I then later found that I really enjoyed working with others as a director.

What made me enjoy it so much was the people that I got to work with. I was fortunate enough to find groups of people who had such great energy and passion for their own disciplines. This inspired me to apply the same energy to the disciplines that I enjoyed, directing and writing, and once I had done so I felt that this was where I needed to be and where my true passion lay.

I love characters. My passion for movies came from a love for characters in story telling. My goal to at least try to create meaningful characters to tell meaningful stories

Producer - Jenna Militz
Hi i am Jenna Leigh Militz and I am one of the co-producers,

I was born in Dubai in 1999. I lived there till I was eleven and then moved to Hartebeespoort which is about an hour out of Johannesburg. I am lucky enough to still be able to go back to Dubai sometimes and be back home. From since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed being creative. I loved painting, dancing and acting. My career path was heading in the direction of being a TV host/presenter. I applied for AFDA and took live performances classes. Although I loved them, something did not feel right. I decided to take Producing the next semester and I loved it. I love being able to organize a whole event and working with so many amazing people. Growing up in a different country when I was younger, opened me up to many different cultures which allowed me to explore different perspectives on the way we see things today. I love traveling and learning about new cultures and I want to do that one day by using art. I love how we can use art or any type of creative form to express ourselves or portray a message.

Producer - Belinda Wood
Belinda Louise Wood, better known as Buzz: studying producing at AFDA, when I’m not studying in Cape Town I’m at home on the farm in the Drakensberg. I am a co-producer for our third year production “Passage” and am super excited to see our crew's hard work turn into an awesome film! I can’t say that I have a particular hobby exactly, on the spot I would say making and drinking tea. I enjoy most things and am always up for an adventure. I love producing, organization excites me and I find fun in scheduling and budgeting. What I love about film is the creativity and teamwork within a crew.

Cinematographer - Tristan Peel
I am a Student at AFDA Cape Town, originally from Johannesburg. I am in my third year studying Cinematography. I also audit Visual Effects, Colour Grading, and Data Management.

I got interested in the industry and more specifically Cinematography after working at a camera store where I was exposed to photography and image corrections and grading. This continued when I went to work at a summer camp in California, USA where I was lucky enough to make a promotional Video for the camp I was working at.

I have always been interested in problem solving and creating my own things, and Cinematography lets me really explore this. I have always been interested in stories and looking to go into the industry no matter what position or department really excites me.

I also enjoy making my own equipment and figuring our ways to make filming a bit cheaper for myself while still maintaining a good quality. Making my own Rigs and lights.

This has also inspired me to take up visual affects as it gives me the ability to create things and tells a story in a different medium. Working in Cinematography and a having photography background allows me to enhance my knowledge of Visual effects as I can look closer at lighting and composition.

Data & Grading - Abdul Ghakeem Samaai
Data & Grading. Born and raised in Cape Town South Africa. My passion for data and grading stems from a love for modern day technology such as computers, cameras, cameras etc... Due to this, I find that data and grading really supports my passion in terms of learning and understanding the digital imaging process, colour science and workflows. What I love about films mostly is that it is an artistic way to express yourself and many different creative ways. Hobbies include random adventures to almost anywhere, a love for cats and cricket.

VFX/ Editor - Ronan Irish
My name is Ronan Irish. I am the co-editor and one of the Visual Effects Artists. I found a passion for editing when I was making random YouTube videos, either gaming videos or short skits. I enjoyed the rhythm and technical side to editing and wanted to explore it further, so I decided to attend AFDA. I had little knowledge on the actual responsibilities of an editor in terms of film, but soon grew to love them, especially the storytelling aspects of the discipline. I enjoy the creative process of receiving an idea from a director or writer, and building it into a narrative that holds relevant and emotional weight. With regards to Visual Effects, I always looked at these films with incredible CGI shots as tasks only people with superhuman computer skills and genius artistic craftsmanship could engineer. I came to AFDA for editing, having my second discipline open for consideration. I love the problem solving that happens in the discipline.

Editor - Sebastian Braune
Sebastian was born and raised in Walvis Bay, Namibia. Since a very young age he has been fascinated and moved by films and storytelling. Being a person who is technical but also enjoys being creative he finds editing to be his strongest skill set in terms of filmmaking. What Sebastian loves most about filmmaking is the ability for filmmakers to make the audience feel any emotion unlike any other medium and that amazing feeling when you come out of a cinema after being fully invested the entire time.

Sound - Benjamin Jacobs
Benjamin known as Benji was born in Cape Town but grew up in Namibia, Windhoek for the majority of his life. His time with film began when he got inspired by film as a youngster seeing how advance film can be with all the behind the scenes that showed on TV. Not only does he strive to make epic sounding and epic looking things through Sound Design and VFX. He loves the challenge these disciplines brought to the table, and therefore he is out to learn everything he can so that he can build on that to develop new ways of thinking around these subjects. He is always out to find what it takes to immerse the audience sonically or inspire them on a subconscious level. Trying to see how he can push limits on every project he works on and lives by a motto that innovation starts with your ambition.

Production Designer - Marc Petrelis

Im a 3 year student at Cape Towns AFDA Institution and majoring in Production designer and Auditing Character Design and Costume.I was born in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape but my Home town is Jeffreys Bay. i once met someone who's had quite some experience in the film industry shown me its hidden joys and from that day i got to know a lot of the things about film sets and what he created as he was a freelancer for the art departments such as production design and costume.I spent roughly around six months with him doing personal projects for comic cons and had a stall selling props and art and from there i was set to follow path in the production design world of film as the possibilities of one's imagination could run wild with trying to create great visuals for a cinematic experience. What i absolutely love is that my hobbies fall into the world of film so every time I'm “working” it doesn't feel like work it rather just feels like there isn't anything better i could be doing than creating things out of nothing and building things that haven't seen before, so Sci-fi and Fantasy films are definitely my top genre categories as they have a large playground for building new ideas and worlds.

However she only started composing music when she started at AFDA Cape Town. Since then she has loved the art of composing for films and hopes to compose film scores that are able to deeply connect to the film and audience. She will compose the musical score for See You Then with the same thought and precision that she creates all her score, creating a deeply moving soundtrack for the film.
